The ENGIE scholarship program “+Women in Energy” of ENGIE Energía Perú received the special award in the multi-sectoral category of Diversity and Inclusion of the Sustainable Development Awards granted each year by the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).
ENGIE scholarships “+ Women in Energy” is a comprehensive program that aims to promote the participation and inclusion of young women in the energy sector through the financing of university studies, technical and certified training courses related to STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). It includes vocational education stages in schools, accompaniment of young women with economic needs and good academic performance through scholarships, mentoring and support for their labor insertion. In addition, one of the pillars of the program are the alliances with important educational entities such as the Universidad Nacional del Centro del Perú and SENATI.
“We are aware of the gender gaps that exist in the electrical sector. Therefore, this program focuses on encouraging more female talent to study STEM careers and thus promote more women’s interest in our sector. In this way, we help to reduce the educational and professional gaps that exist in the country”, said Daniel Cámac, Deputy Country Manager of ENGIE in Peru.
The Sustainable Development Award is an initiative of the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy that brings together the best projects in social and environmental management of the companies of the guild. Its objective is to disseminate among the community the modern, efficient and supportive management of the business sector under a sustainable development approach.
