ENGIE Energía Perú, one of the largest electricity generators in the country, received the EDGE (Equity, Diversity and Gender Equality) certification from the EDGE Certified Foundation, one of the main certifiers in the field of gender equity and inclusion at a global level.
EDGE Certified Foundation evaluates commitment to gender equity within companies through a rigorous process with four pillars: representation; equal pay; the effectiveness of policies and practices; and the inclusiveness of an organization’s culture. Measurement is conducted by evaluating quantitative and qualitative processes and outcomes through statistical data, policies and practices, and employee surveys.
“We are proud to receive this certificate which is in line with our commitment to work towards gender equality and continue to promote actions to attract and retain female talent. We know that our sector is predominantly male and therefore it is necessary to make significant efforts to facilitate that more women can enter and be part of the energy transition,” said El Mehdi Ben Maalla, CEO and Country Manager of ENGIE in Peru.
As is known, ENGIE Energía Perú announced its commitment to promote gender equity in the energy sector. Among its objectives is to increase the representation of women in its organization, for which it focuses on deploying efforts to facilitate the selection and attraction of female talent. In this sense, it has been promoting the ENGIE Scholarship Program: +More Women in Energy” with which it expects to reach 150 scholarship holders in a period of 3 years, attending to the following educational levels: university, technical and certified training.
EDGE certification allows organizations to demonstrate their commitment to gender equality and intersectional equity. This certification is independently verified by an external auditor, which increases its credibility both internally and externally.
Founded in 2009, the EDGE Certified Foundation is the body responsible for EDGE certification, one of the leading standards in gender equity and inclusion.
