ENGIE Energía Perú, one of the largest power generation companies in the country, announced on August 5 the signing of a Loan Agreement with IDB and IDB Invest for the financing of the Punta Lomitas Wind Power Plant Project located in Ica.
The financing is for a total amount of up to USD 300 million and a term of 11 years, which will be used for the construction of the Punta Lomitas Wind Power Plant and its expansion of up to 36.4 MW, with which the project would reach a total nominal capacity of up to 296.4 MW.
“For ENGIE Energía Perú it is important to have obtained this financing with the IDB because its participation will improve the sustainability of the project, ensuring compliance with local and international standards in the evaluation and management of environmental and social risks and impacts, efficient use of resources, health and safety, among other factors,” said Luciano Guffanti, CFO of ENGIE Energía Perú.
The Punta Lomitas Wind Power Plant Project consists of the construction of a wind farm with a nominal capacity of 260 MW (50 wind turbines) and an expansion of up to 36.4 MW (7 additional wind turbines), as well as a 60-kilometer power transmission line that will connect the plant to the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN).
To date, Apoyo & Asociados Internacionales and Moody’s Local PE Clasificadora de Riesgo maintain their risk rating for the company with the local “AAA” category. This category corresponds to the highest level of solvency, stability and payment capacity.
The Lima Stock Exchange ratified ENGIE Energía Perú among the 17 companies that are part of the “S&P/BVL Perú General ESG” index, which recognizes the best practices in environmental, social and corporate governance matters; ENGIE Energía Perú is the only energy company to be part of this index.
