Electricity Generation and Biodiversity Strategy
In compliance with current environmental regulations, ENGIE Energía Perú manages the approval of the certification of its new investment projects, as well as the licenses for the use of fresh and desalinated water, authorizations for the reuse of wastewater and discharges, compliance with environmental quality standards, as well as all applicable environmental permits. All this in coordination with the competent authorities such as the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) and the National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments (SENACE), the National Water Authority (ANA), among others as appropriate.
ENGIE Energía Perú monitors its liquid effluents, receiving water bodies, gaseous emissions, air quality, meteorological parameters, soil quality, environmental noise and electromagnetic fields, in addition to monitoring flora and fauna, slopes and ecological flows. The results of this monitoring are submitted to the competent authorities within the deadlines established by applicable regulations and permits and are periodically verified by the Environmental Evaluation and Oversight Agency (OEFA)
As part of the local and corporate policy, we report and treat environmental incidents and accidents that occur in the development of our activities, in order to analyze them, correct them and prevent the recurrence of the event within the framework of continuous improvement.
It is formulated based on the legal requirements of the environmental certification of its operations and the action plans derived from the annual review of the lists of environmental aspects and impacts. Each of ENGIE Energía Perú’s operations has defined its own EMP, which includes actions to comply with applicable legal requirements, corporate commitments and annual objectives defined for its operational headquarters or project under construction.
ENGIE Energía Perú, in compliance with the General Law of Solid Waste and its Regulations, carries out waste management in the following stages: segregation of origin, central waste storage, waste collection, recovery, transportation and final disposal of waste.
The environmental policy and charter of the ENGIE group (formerly GDF SUEZ) are the framework for the audit, coordination and supervision activities of ENGIE Energía Perú, which ensure the correct environmental performance of operations and projects.
Our commitments involve – through proper environmental management – the continuous and systematic identification, evaluation and control of environmental aspects and impacts to prevent possible environmental pollution caused by emissions, effluents and solid waste as a result of our activities.
